DV2
Brief
Create a publication for a technology-driven textiles project.
Outcome
A spiral-bound book
Process
- The project was driven by computer code, so I began by researching coding and the aesthetics of early computing.
- I incorporated some details from that such as the underscore, a monospaced typeface, and some inspiration from punchcards.
- The copy came in 3 distinct sections, each longer than the last. This informed my decision to print on 3 different sizes of paper, which in turn led me to spiral binding. Happily, the wire spiral also fitted well with the aesthetic we were interested in.
- The client had lots of high-quality photographs so I used them to showcase the work in full page spreads.
